The New Pornographers - ''Twin Cinema"
I have almost forgotten about The New Pornographers until my roommate Gavin started to listen to them again. After knowing theur first 2 albums and falling in love (again) with Neko Case's performances their second to last album 'Twin Cinema" is absolutely amazing. Ranging from softer tracks to fully energetic rock songs. I recommend to whomever likes the Canadian indie music.
SHAH DJs
Check their monthly Shah Saturdays events that they host throughout vancouver. They are worth going to.

UPPER PLAYGROUND
Upper Playground has been in the San Francisco scene for few years now. I have slowly been discovering what they are about and what they do just recently. They are a great team of people who work with an amazing team of artists to provide art and art to people. Most recognized artists the UP brand is working with are Jeremy Fish, Sam Flores, David Choe, Herbert Baglione to name a few. They keep expanding and collaborating with artists all over the world. Their clothing lines are amazing together with their sub-brand fifty24sf
They are also very influential on the amazing Juxtapoz magazine.
Anyways their website says it all. Their blogs are really good to follow also.
HERBERT BAGLIONE
Herberts art struck me probably the most this summer, after following few online blogs and reading lots about the street art culture. Everyone should check this mans art.
His website has a collection of few of his pieces. Here.
Also his brother William has an interesting blog showcasing Herberts pieces as well as other Brazilian artists. Here

Another musical discovery this summer occurred when i started working on my last job. There a guy named Willis (Joe Ave) introduced me to his Drum'n'Bass and Breaks DJ collective that consists of about 8 Vancouver DJs. They are called the SHAH DJs and are absolutely amazing. I have been a witness to a few of their live shows, and have been very pleased. Never ending flow of tunes with professional music taste and execution. These guys sure know how to put on a good party.
