"EXILS" - vasho's movie of the month (february)

I watched "Exils" (Tony GATLIF) yesterday and was quite amazed by the quality and character of this film. It was beautifully shot, edited, and it completely took my mind away with these two characters and their travel to Algeria.

One amazing thing about this film is the character development of the two main characters It feels they are introduced to a specific detail even though most of their character is given by their actions and reactions to people and the world around them.
The film felt very natural, very textured and very engaging, nothing like the usual hollywood soup where there is only certain amount of actors.

The music of this film was also very excellent, raging from native Algerian shamman songs to spanish drum n base.

Strongly recomend for those who love to travel, love cinema, and for those who enjoy different and unknown beauties of forgotten cultures.

Synopsis
One day Zano suggest a crazy idea to his companion Naïma: travel across France and Spain down to Algeria, where they might ultimately come to know the land their parents once had to flee.

Almost as a challenge, with music as their only baggage, these two children of the diaspora hit the road. Enamored with their freedom, they let the time slip by, intoxicated by the Andalusia's sensuality, before they finally decide to cross the Mediterranean.

From one meeting to another, a techno beat to a Flamenco rhythm, Zano and Naïma reconstruct in reverse the path of the exile. Ending their travels with the promise of recapturing themselves.
